Description
A pretty simple Falcon-9 wannabe, Toucan 18 was my first try to launch multiple small satellites in orbit at once. To do it, the launcher is provided with eight small communication satellites, each of them having 1200 m/s of impulse available for future orbital maneuvers. I had to lower the number to 8 units as my old computer is on its final way, but it is possible to place 16 of them under the airfoil. However, being only equipped of DTS-M1 antennas, they are nothing more than orbiting tin cans, without any real value for your campaign.
.
The first stage can be recovered manually or automatically with the Stage Recovery mod, and the second stage should still be able to de-orbit itself after all the different maneuvers, thus limiting the space debris number.
The total cost of the launch is approximately 7500 funds (excluding fuel).
A stock rocket called Toucan 18 / Multi Satellites. Built with 210 of the finest parts, its root part is fuelTank2-2.
Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.3.1.
The album of the flight, as usual
Launch and 1st stage separation
Passing over the Southern mountains and release of the third unit
2nd stage deorbiting and reentering Kerbin’s atmosphere.
Final result with the Dwarf constellation
