Comet originally was my first attempt of making an SSTO, about two years ago now, but was built with mods. In my current way of
stockalize everything some parts required to be change, and now she’s surprisingly more capable! Able to transfer one full FL-T800 fuel tank to a 200 x 200 km orbit plus a crew of six.
But you have to be warned, beware of her attitude at low speed. The delta configuration combined with a transfering CoM will require a lot of attention and throttle adjustment. Stall speed is around 70 m/s, here the craft logically answer slowly to any controls input and could start some kind of Sabre Dance. And unless you still are high enough to push forward and recover, you can put a black flag on your crew.
Your best landing speed is around 80/85 m/s.
Whiplash are spooling up miserably like 1st gen turbojets just push full throttle followed by a quick back to idle about two seconds before main gear touch down. This should give you enough thrust to help you flaring.
Good brakes plus a Mk2-R braking chute will ensure a short landing distance.
