One super inefficient S.S.T.O. overpowered by four R.A.P.I.E.R., able to reach a 200x200 km orbit and come back in one piece.
Coming from an irresistible need to create my first medium size SSTO with the engines placed together in a belly pod configuration. The result is here as the six seated X-144SAC Nike-Beta.
Any similarities with the Tupolev Tu-144 prototypes are purely imaginatives… well, not totally O.K.
For a question of mass the Mk2 linear docking port has been replaced by a rear shielded Clamp-O-Tron, so the docking maneuvers have to be done backward, once again.
An Illuminator Mk1 is available inside the Clamp to help for docking in dark conditions.
This craft need some attention when you are rotating and flaring, its main landing gear being lower than the nose gear.
Also I recommend :
- to transfert all the LF/LOX to the front fuselage tank before starting your circularization.
- shutdown the outboard CR-7 for orbital maneuvers. The pack of four engines firing all together use to rise the nose up, and fast.
For the rest it’s simple, throttle up, build your speed and it’s done.
- Updated to 1.2.1
