Need performances for MEDEVAC under hot-and-high conditions? Tired to depend on asphalt runways? More than enough to have to waste time on pistons engines? The Exocet is made for you! No more waiting, no more traffic constraint! This, for just a little bit more funds per hours, but no ones care when the life of somebody (and its insurance, hehehe…) is behind.

More seriously, this aircraft has something special to my eyes, but to be short I must say that it haunts my mind since the age of eight… at that time our islands were once again ravaged by hurricanes (of course that’s what happened the previous summer, after all we are never remembering our failures), and rescues were still dependent on helicopters operating from damaged runways or military landing ships. This is how I drew a wacky device that I called Exocet, referring to the flying fishes. It was equipped with two turbofans mounted on straight wings, canards, but especially a T-tail provided with a tailplane as large as the main wings. He had to have landing gears that were strong enough to operate from unprepared and uncontrolled terrain, while at the same time guarantying a good height to avoid the projection of debris, the turbofans placed on the wings bringing a little more safety against debris ingestion.

Despite the years I sometimes remembered this drawing, but never willing to try it on KSP, convinced that it would be a wacky kid’s dream and could not work… until yesterday, when I decided to try, and with great surprise he worked almost perfectly right during the first flight! Then, after the simple addition of an additional tank it turns out to be able to get to the North Pole, and come back with even more than a third of available fuel.
It turns out to be maneuverable for its category, while enjoying a good TWR. Rotate at 180 km/h / 97 kts, initial cruising flight level at 11 000 m at a speed of 914 km/h / 494 kts.
