#Me262

Description

This early prototype jet isn’t very fast or high-flying compared to later, more advanced jet aircraft, but it flies well enough and its extensive flaps give it gratifyingly low takeoff and landing speeds.

The tail-mounted rocket booster is useful for an extra burst of power when it’s most needed, but it burns through fuel like nobody’s business, so take care when using it.

A stock aircraft called Keibler 2651. Built with 60 of the finest parts, its root part is Mark2Cockpit.

A modification of the Keibler 26, the 2651 is made to represent the Me 262 C-1a, a version of the Me 262 with a tail-mounted rocket booster engine (only one was ever built). The extra mass of the pair of tail-mounted Cub engines and of the oxidiser necessary for said Cubs to function made it a bit tricky to make it so it wouldn’t go out-of-balance in the air or tip backwards onto its tail on the ground, but I figured it all out eventually. (0 toggles the Cubs on and off.)

Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.10.1.
