#Me262

Description

This early prototype jet isn’t very fast or high-flying compared to later, more advanced jet aircraft, but it flies well enough and its extensive flaps give it gratifyingly low takeoff and landing speeds.

A stock aircraft called Keibler 263. Built with 73 of the finest parts, its root part is Mark2Cockpit.

Where the Keibler 26 represents the standard Me 262 A-1a, the Keibler 263 is a recreation of the much-more-advanced (but-never-built) Me 262 HG III, a specialised higher-speed version of the Me 262 with a low-drag fuselage, engines buried within the wing roots instead of hanging beneath the wings in draggy pods, and wings swept back at 45° rather than the standard Me 262’s 18°.

The 263’s much-greater wing sweep moved its center of lift aft considerably, giving me a bit of trouble in keeping the aircraft balanced. Note that the large NCS adapter and FL-T200 tank forward of the cockpit are completely empty; trials where they held fuel proved to leave the aircraft far too nose-heavy.

As with the 26, the 263 actually has four engines, clipped into one another to look like two. Unlike the 26, it has a pair of wing-mounted droptanks for extended range.

Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.10.1.
