Description
As the name says, it’s an improved version of the stock Slim Shuttle craft; I added two wingtip-mounted droptanks to allow the orbiter’s main Thud engines to continue firing for a short time after the main external tank runs dry and is decoupled. This translates into a significant increase in Δv, as, after jettisoning the main external tank, the main engines are now pushing a considerably-lighter vehicle. This, in turn, means that the OMS Puffs don’t have to burn for nearly as long to finish the process of orbital insertion, leaving more monopropellant available for orbital manoeuvring and rendezvous and eventual deorbit.
