Description

This small experimental lifting body spaceplane is launched into orbit on top of a multistage rocket. It isn’t as impressive as an SSTO would be, but it’s still quite a flyable vehicle, capable of going into orbit around the Mun and returning to land on a runway.

The spaceplane’s main orbital engine is the efficient LV-909, but it also has RCS thrusters for fine manoeuvring, as well as a pair of Juno turbojets to allow it to stretch its glide considerably (broadening the available selection of runways for any given reentry).

The large, leaf-shaped spaceplane body up top, plus the spaceplane’s control fins, can easily destabilise the vehicle; large angles of attack should be avoided at lower altitudes during ascent, in order to prevent loss of control.

A stock rocket called Hydra I. Built with 88 of the finest parts, its root part is mk2Cockpit.Standard.

Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.10.1.
