Description

A stock rocket called Donkey III. Built with 41 of the finest parts, its root part is probeCoreOcto2.v2.

Like the Donkey I, II, and IId, the Donkey III is a solid-fuel-only orbital rocket (although the small relaysat perched on top does have its own monopropellant supply and RCS thrusters for on-orbit manoeuvring), but it eschews the big, (relatively) expensive Kickback SRB used by the prior Donkeys in favour of a smaller but cheaper BACC Thumper rocket motor. With a Hammer as the second stage and a cluster of eight sepratrons (tucked into the aerodynamic nose fairing just below the payload) for a final kick stage, even this smaller rocket can still put a (small) relaysat into a stable Kerbin orbit, as long as the satellite payload can withstand the strong G-forces of launch (rising from 4.4 Gs to ~10 over the course of the second-stage burn, and from 12 to ~20 Gs during the five-second third-stage burn).

Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.8.0.
