Description

The Abort Test-vehicle 1 is a cheap solid-fuel rocket used to test the ability of a spacecraft’s launch abort system to get it safely away from an out-of-control launch vehicle. If your escape system can’t get the capsule far enough away in time when tested on the AT-1, it probably isn’t worth testing on the larger final operational rocket vehicle.

The AT-1 has a cluster of smallish Hammer SRBs at its aft end, which provide most of the vehicle’s total thrust off the pad, surrounding a single long Thumper sustainer motor.

Currently has a sample capsule-and-LES combo on top, but feel free to replace those with your own (note: works best with size-1-or-smaller systems).

A stock rocket called AT-1. Built with 40 of the finest parts, its root part is mk1pod.v2.

Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.10.1.
