The Double Shuttle is something I designed for the Design Challenge: Orbital Shuttle thread on the KSP forums. The challenge was to have a multi stage craft that used all of it’s engines to get to orbit, have all the pieces be fully recoverable, either by propulsive landing or gliding back, and be able to take a reasonable amount of crew and/or cargo to a usable orbit. The Double Shuttle should be able to take a big orange tank to orbit and recover both bits. I recommend turning off the Vector engine once the Orbiter has cleared the booster. You might also have to mess with the thrust limiter on the ‘top’ aerospike or keep the vector on but at very low thrust for gimbal control.
