Description

Kerbol 9 3SFRL (3 Stage Stage Fully Reusable Lifter) Block 3

Prototype of a 3 Stage Fully Reusable Lifter. The SRBs fall back in to KSC and touch down safely for recovery. Second Stage has to perform a boostback to land in KSC. Third Stage puts the payload in orbit and then performs reentry.

Payload increased by 17 tons, compared to the regular Kerbol 9

-The SRBs do the work in the first 1500m. After the SRBs burn, press the spacebar for staging and z for maximum throttle.

-Then you have to climb almost vertically at an angle between 70° and 45° (this is the part I’m trying to tune).

-The Lifter is controlled from the Second Stage. When you reach an apoapsis of 85 km, perform stage separation and rotate the second stage to perform boostback. You should end up with an almost vertical trajectory after boostback (Picture 2).

-Then select the third stage and circularize the orbit.

-When the 3rd stage is in orbit switch back quickly to the second (before it enters atmosphere) and land it at KSC.

-After this you can go back to the 3rd stage and deploy the payload.
