Description

A made-up air racer design modeled after the DeHavilland DH.88 and Gee-Bee and named after the powerplant. Can break 380 m/s in level flight (Mach 1.1), easily climbs vertically, and has a usable max altitude of around 10,500m (35,000 feet).

A companion craft, the Meteor Mk.6 can be found here.

Takeoff Instructions

Turn on SAS (T) and fine control (Caps Lock [While the aircraft can function without either, it is far more stable with both]).

Throttle to 25%, aircraft should partially level itself as it accelerates, at ~40 m/s. Takeoff speed is anything above 65 m/s.

Landing Instructions

Try to keep your approach nice and shallow. The sweet spot seems to be airbrakes ON with throttle set to 5%. Keep airspeed between 60 and 80 meters per second.

After wheels touch down, press ABORT to reverse thrust until you come to a stop, then throttle down.

Misc. Features and Notes

-Stall speed is around 40 m/s, but the engine has enough power to easily climb out of any stall.

-Features a ladder for ingress/egress.

-Wide-spaced landing gear give plenty of stability on landing

-Has functioning radiators to keep that big ‘ol engine cool. Expect them to max out and turn red during flight.

-Running at full throttle for several minutes will bring up temperature warning bars on the radiators, engine, and wings. I have never had the heat level go critical, so these warnings are safe to ignore. How much more Kerbal can you get?

Have fun!
