Description
An updated version of the reusable spaceplane and booster combination. The robotic booster plane and 3-person shuttle are designed to be recovered on the runway, making the system very cost-effective.
Two strap-on booster assemblies help get the system moving—they are discarded during ascent and are the only waste in the system.
The update features a hands-off ascent, please see flight instructions for more details.
Please be aware that the booster has limited battery capacity. Manufacturer recommends deorbiting within 1-3 orbits.
Flight Instructions
-Throttle to full, turn on SAS, and stage to start jet engines. After ~3-5 seconds, stage again to lift off.
-At 150 m/s, click prograde
hold, and the vehicle will fly itself.
-When the boosters run out of fuel, stage to discard them. Continue to let vehicle ascend without control inputs.
-At 30,000 meters, resume regular SAS and fly like any normal rocket.
-Use RCS during circularization for extra stability.
-After staging the spaceplane, press (1) to reorient the booster, turn off booster main engine, and activate booster deorbit
engines.
-The booster has enough fuel left for deorbit and recovery, as well as jet engines for crossrange.
-The Jerboa has ~1,000 m/s dV after separation thanks to its efficient vacuum engine.
Notes
-When flying booster plane, use action group (1) to automatically control from here
in booster plane probe core. After separation KSP decides the plane wants to fly on its side.
-Booster plane has around 400 units of liquid fuel to power the jet engines and help it return to the launch site if you over or undershoot your reentry
-Utilizes a Clamp-O-Tron Jr. docking port.
