Description

Honest Jeb rocket grew out of a need for a low cost per ton launch vehicle for the common 40-50 ton payload market. Engineers long had an idea that use of solid fuel boosters is the key to cheap access to space. However no one could create a lower stage of mixed solid and liquid fuel that was quite satisfactory.

In a design meeting KSP’s chief astronaut interjected why don’t you use more boosters? The idea lead to a design that coupled a cheap all solid first stage with an expensive but reusable upper stage. For his insight the new rocket was named after the chief astronaut.

Specifications:

    dry weight: 59 tons
    wet weight: 268 tons
    cost: √88,646
    part count: 99
    payload: 45.5 tons to 75km x 75km orbit
    payload fraction: 14.51%

Cost per ton to LKO:

    without upper stage recovery: √1948
95% average upper stage recovery rate: √770
90% average upper stage recovery rate: √832

Note: when launching, tilt to 5 degree east immediately after lift off. Once the gravity turn has been started set rocket to prograde.
