Description

For some years it has been my ambition in this game to create functional, reliable and crucially, stock mechs. I have found some success in this endeavour previously, albeit omitting the ‘reliable’ aspect, though it was not sufficient to satisfy me. This creation is one of my first serious attempts at using the new robotic parts in the Breaking Ground DLC to achieve this goal.

The Herald is a bipedal, digitigrade, single-seat mech walker designed with speed in mind. It’s exceptionally long legs allow it to take great strides and subsequently reach high speeds. It’s relatively low mass means it is quite agile, and as such it is capable of some acrobatic feats such as jumping or even front and back flips. It is also able to walk and crouch, both of which are very useful for precise manoeuvring. Due to the nature of the robotic parts, it consumes a large amount of electricity and thus is powered by three fuel cells. With the small amount of fuel on board its range is limited, though more can be added quite easily. The cockpit seats one kerbal and is in fact lifted straight from a previous mech design of mine originally made some years ago.

To control the Herald, ensure that you set the SAS to point Radial Out, as this will assist in keeping the mech upright.
