The Krumman K-42 Locust is the next evolution of personal survey craft offered by Krumman Aviation. The Locust builds upon it’s predecessors legacy with new and improved reliability upgrades. The Locust remains a well balanced and easy to maneuver craft suited to low altitude survey missions.

With it’s new reliability, the Locust gained immense use by amateur pilots. The maneuverability and reliability of the plane made it well suited for acrobatics, surveying, transport, or just plain sport. The Locust is especially popular amongst teachers, with it’s easy controls being well suited to new and inexperienced pilots.

To Fly:
In the VAB, load your Kerbal into the command pod.
Once on the runway, engage your breaks.
EVA your Kerbal and move them into the command seat.
Stage to decouple both the engine and the command pod.
Switch to the engine using [ or ].
Spin the engine up using alt + q until trim is set to max.
Switch back to the plane using [ or ].
Activate SAS and disengage brakes.
The plan should lift off by itself at around 30 m/s
At around 45 m/s, retract the gear and you are free to maneuver.

The plane is highly maneuverable for it’s speed. The engine has not given out on me under any turn, so go crazy. However, the plane will stall at speeds less than 30 m/s, so keep your surface speed above that. Comes equipped with external lights under the fuselage for night flying.

To land: Switch to the engine with [ or ]. Reset the trim by pressing alt + x. Switch back tot he plane using [ or ] and land like normal.
