A New Era of Replica Building
Since the 1.10 update, flag pieces have allowed for us replica builders to make craft that look way more realistic than ever before. This update is what made me re-visit my Saturn V. I have previously made two replicas of the Saturn V but those were neither good in aesthetics nor in general as they required restock. This new update itched me to remake it so here it is! More elegant and CPU burning than ever before.

Whats new?
A lot of things actually, this is a complete redesign over my previous versions but here is a list of the key features:
- Added hella flags
- Added hella parts
- Custom CSM doing away with the default Mk1-3 pod
- Custom CSM Spider RCS for translation
- Fully functioning Saturn V with a proper S-II skirt, engine mounts, APS, ullage thrusters etc which was not present on my previous Saturn models
Flight profile
- Contemplate why you would want to fly this 1800 part beast in the first place
- SAS on, throttle up
- Stage to activate the ignition sequence of the F-1 engines. Do NOT stage again. The launch clamps will release automatically after 8.9 seconds (in game)
- After the vehicle has cleared the pad, roll to the desired heading and begin to pitch
- Due to KSP’s weird bug currently with fairings, any sudden pitch maneuvers makes the Saturn V flip. I would advise heading almost straight up until S-IC burnout. Alternatively you can use kOS or Mechjeb auto ascent.
- After the S-IC shuts off, stage to ignite the S-II and release the first stage. After 30 seconds stage again to release the skirt. You may notice some skirt flags stay attached to the S-II. Thats a bug with KSP and it cannot be fixed.
- After skirt sep, stage again to jettison the abort tower
- Continue buring the S-II until burnout and then stage again to start up the S-IVB. Continue to LKO of about 80-100km
- Activate RCS to enable the APS units on the S-IVB after reaching LKO
- Proceed with TLI
- Once on an intercept, perform Transposition and Docking. First, stage to release the CSM from the S-IVB and then use AG0 to enable translation forwards/backwards. Use ‘H’ to move away from the S-IVB and then ‘N’ to kill relative velocity. At this point, hit AG0 again to disable the spider engines and use the onboard reaction wheel to flip around to point at the LM. Then, activate 0 again to enable the spiders and use ‘H’ to move towards the LM docking port. After docking, right click the docking port hidden inside the S-IVB and decouple node to separate the spacecraft from the stage. Timewarp until clear of the S-IVB.
- Hard part is over, the Mun mission can proceed like any other.
If you like this craft, make sure to follow me here and check out the video. I spent a lot of work on this as you can probably tell :D
One small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind!

Please note that the CSM RCS doesnt allow for rotation, only translation. Use onboard RW for rotation
