Energia Buran
The Energia (Rocket) Buran (Orbiter) was the soviet counterpart to the American Space Shuttle. The Buran was only launched to Orbit once on November 15, 1988. The project was cancelled when the USSR broke apart. The Orbiter itself looks almost exactly like the Space Suhttle but the launch system is a very different design. Buran is russian for Snowstorm

My Energia Buran
I tried to build the orbiter as realistic as possible and i think it came out well. I spend a lot time getting the launch system right on this one. I redesigned the rocket mutliple time until i was happy with it’s performance. I managed to build teh launch system in a way, that it does the gravity turn all by itself, which is a result of phenomenal engineering and totally didn’t happen by accident at all :P It only turns in a tiny bit to much, so you must counter that with [W] just slightly. The SHuttle has massive DeltaV and is actually very stable during ascent. It likes to wobble a little bit but don’t worry about that. Like the real one it carries 30t payloads to orbit.
How to Launch?
- Press [SPACE] to liftoff
- The Shuttle will start it’s planned gravity turn all by itself at some height
- Counter that turn slightly with [W) (Turns in slightly to steep)
- kill all engines before booster seperation [X].
- Full Throttle again afterwards [Z].
- After Boster Seperation: Point the Shuttle 45° up and keep firing till your apoapsis is Above 70 km. (Main Rocket is low on TWR)
