Flat Pack

Ever needed a refuel while on a surface expedition? Annoyed at forgetting that cargo part? The Gong Aerospace Flat Pack rover is your multi-purpose solution!

Good things come in small packages

Packed (almost) within the diameter of a 3.75m heat shield, it can be dropped from orbit to land almost anywhere! Tested for re-entry from low Kerbin orbit, Gong Aerospace provide a stupendous 50/50 guarantee the wheels will not be charred to a crisp on touchdown!

Land in one piece

4 Spark engines and 400 units of LfOx are dedicated for all your de-orbiting needs. dV will vary based on the weight of your payload. Parachutes and a heat shield is included with your purchase, but are totally optional!

Pack what you need

4 independent mounting points provide many options for FL-T100 sized cargo containers and fuel tanks. These are mounted on unstaged decouplers - toggle crossfeed for that little extra bit of dV!

I’ve landed! Now what?
  • Did you remember to unfold your wheels? Hit [4] and enjoy speeds of 30+m/s!
  • Got fuel to burn? Hit [5], and those landing engines now boost your speed!
  • Get the juice flowing! Hit [7] to extend your PV panels!
Refuelling

G-Aero have provided an articulating arm for this very purpose!
- [translate forward/back] extend / retract arm.
- [translate left/right] point arm left / right.
- [translate up/down] raise / lower arm.
Hit [6] to reset the arm to original position.

Disclaimer

Your rover has been carefully designed from the factory to have aligned centre-of-mass and engine thrust (without Kerbal) for a smooth de-orbit experience. Customers are responsible for their own balanced packing!

Bug! :(

There is a minor symmetry bug when merging this craft into another file. 2 out of the 4 fuel lines linking the central modular girder to the Spark engines may disconnect - if they do, you will need to re-connect these again for the engines to fire properly.

1.2 update
- Added enough de-orbit fuel to now land on most vacuum bodies with a payload.
- Added extra degree of motion for arm. Adjusted counter-balance.
- Parachutes moved to a more logical place, and now tucked out of the way once wheels are deployed.
- Removed rear bumper due to moving parachutes. Who crashes going backwards anyway?
