Description

This small but nimble UAV has found extensive use as a target drone. Launch it from the ground (via RATO) or launch it from the air using the attatchment point on the top. Recover the drone with the parachutes included in the wings (deploys on 2) and the booster can be recovered too. It is recommended that during flight you set the SAS to prograde, as it makes it slightly easier to control (the drone is quite twitchy, and any sharp turns will cause it to flip) Just make sure that you are gentle with the controls, and it flies like a dream! Like the real life version, the Firebee doesn’t come with landing gear, and instead uses chutes to land (you may lose the tail stabilisers as a result). Unfortunately, you cannot collect the drone mid-air (without mods) unlike in real life. As almost everything is recoverable, it isn’t a bad choice for career mode saves (even if it is pretty useless.) I haven’t tried, but you could even use it as an actual target if you use BD armoury.

Almost everything is recoverable, even the booster! (the drogue chutes on the booster deploy once the booster is jettisoned). The reason I say Almost is because the small fins on the rear have a stupidly low crash tolerance (of 4 m/s), and this thing lands at ~10 m/s, destroying the fins. But, as the description says, they’re dirt cheap, so it isn’t a huge loss.
