The B-2 is a multi-purpose tri-engine turbofan strategic airlifter. It was first planned as a heavy air freighter as a replacement for the B-1 transport which was unreliable and difficult to control. The B-2 uses a triplane set up, giving it great maneuverability for its size. It was designed to performs tactical and strategic airlift missions, transporting troops and cargo throughout the world; additional roles include medical evacuation and airdrop duties.
