FFA P-16

Description

A stock aircraft called FFA P-16. Built with 325 of the finest parts, its root part is fuelTank.

Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.9.1.

After the second world war the Swiss government quickly built up a jet fleet (Switzerland also being the first country to have an air force entirely made out of jet aircraft) made out of the british Venoms and Vampires, but these aircraft didn’t succeed at much more than ground attack and so the military was hoping to find a new aircraft in their own aircraft industry. After the failed N-20 project (which the P-16 lobby helped to bring down on its knees) another design emerged, the P-16. The P-16 was supposed to be a Fighter- Interceptor with ground attack capabilites. It had to follow a strict list of requirements and it was a highly advanced aircraft for its time, being able to go supersonic in a dive, as well as short take off and landing capability. Development was going well and a number of prototypes were built. But the P-16 project would take a devastating blow when the first prototype crashed into Lake Constance in august of 1955. Nevertheless the government was confident in the aircraft and ordered 100 new P-16s, This would change however when another prototype crashed in 1958 and the already ongoing production was cancelled. This was the end of the P-16. (Both pilots survived the crashes thanks to their ejection seats) The plans of the P-16 were sold off to america where the P-16 would live on the wings of the Learjet 23.
Afterwards the military decided to buy the British Hawker Hunter
