Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.9.0.

This is my attempt at capturing one of my favorite aircraft ever to fly: The English Electric Lightning
A supersonic british fighter designed to intercept soviet bombers and defend the V-bomber airfields.
The Lightning was capable of speeds surpassing mach 2 and it was the first aircraft to feature supercruise, the ability of flying supersonic without the use of afterburners.

About this craft

This was just a quick build of mine that I had a lot of fun with, it’s just built of off pictures so it isn’t the most accurate and it isn’t built in 1:1 either. It’s got a pretty good performance and a relatively low partcount I reckon, probably a bit too fast but in order to get it supersonic I had to crank the engines up a little. The power is pretty much just needed to push past the immense drag and you can throttle down once you have achieved supersonic speeds.
Fly high enough when using afterburner to not immediately run out of fuel.
Takeoff speed: ~70m/s
Max speed: ~800m/s
