The HMAS Sydney was a Modified Leander Class Cruiser which was orginally ordered as HMS Phaeton but purchased by the Australian government and renamed. She had an active career in 1940 with the Mediterranean Fleet where she sank two Italian warships.
On November 19th 1941 she was off the coast of Australia when she sighted the German Auxillary Cruiser Kormoran. While she was able to damage Kormoran to the point of being forced to scuttle, Sydney herself sank with all 645 men onboard. Much controversy has arisen from the loss of all onboard, giving rise to (unporven) theories such as illegal ruses and an IJN submarine. However it is accepted that Kormoran’s advantage was that despite being a weak target, they had the advantage of suprise and the close proximity of the ships.
This replica ship is capable of reaching 16 M/s and operates fairly well.
A mod aircraft called HMAS Sydney. Built with 789 of the finest parts, its root part is Keel2.
Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.0.5.
