A stock aircraft called SA - Naval Transport. Built with 56 of the finest parts, its root part is Mark1Cockpit.
Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.11.2.
A folding-wing passenger jet created for a challenge on the KSP forums:
https://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/202184-naval-aviation-challenge/
Essentially a very simple airplane, but the design was dictated entirely by three factors:
1. Size limits
2. Real-world aircraft contestants are required to draw inspiration from
3. The weakness of DLC hinges
While the first two points are mostly stress-free, dealing with floppy wings that folded in half any time I tried to pitch up forced me to sacrifice wing area in order to create a stable aircraft. Even with damping at 0 and the hinges locked, they still flex more than I’m comfortable with. /rant
If anyone has an elegant solution for floppy hinges that uses stock or DLC parts, please let me know. Having to use docking ports to lock my hinges in place is getting annoying.
