Description
Update 1.1: Upgraded to KSP 1.7.3 with its proper propeller parts radically improving performance. better/stronger wing unfolding mechanism. New keybinds.
While its electric props are under-powered and unstable in Kerbins air, this plane can land and take off anywhere on Eve, land or sea, easily. Comes with its own booster to get it to Kerbin Orbit. Comes with a Deep Space Stage for getting it to Eve orbit, and providing power and comms. Comes with a Bi-Conic Heatsheild/Fairing for entering Eve atmosphere or aerobraking.
Extra Key Controls:
Throttle = Accelerate/Decelerate Motors
{h}/{n} = Raise/Lower Tail trim
{i}/{k} = Adjust propeller pitch
How to get to Orbit:
1. Take off vertical until reaching 75 m/s surface velocity then pitch down to 80° and set SAS to prograde surface and it will gravity turn naturally.
2. Stage when outer booster are empty and switch SAS to prograde orbit.
3. When projected apogee reaches 80~100 km then shut down engines and coast
4. Above atmosphere jettison nose cone and open solar panels and antenna
5. Circularize at apogee with core booster and not Deep Space Stage
6. Jettision Core booster stage when in orbit.
How to Land on Eve:
1. Transfer to Eve via a transfer window
2. Use Deep Space Stage engine burn to enter into a High Eve Orbit.
3. Aerobrake or enter for landing at above 0 km perigee, do not exceed 4 km/s or it might burn up.
4. Open parachutes at 30 km altitude
5. Jettison heatsheild/fairing
6. Unfold wings
7. Jettison backshell/parachutes and glide down at any angle.
Recommendations:
1. Make sure blades pitch in opposite directions to each other.
2. Make sure lift flaps go down, wing tips pitch up
3. Toggle tail trim to prevent unwanted pitching.
4. Power up engines slowly and only to 1/3 power when taking off at sea or else it may flip over.
5. Using Wing tips for taking off is optional.
6. Reduce power to keep speeds between 60-100 m/s at any altitude, over speed puts significant strain on wings.
Boosterless Specifications:
- Mass: 9.066 tons
- Max Powered Cruise Speed: 100 m/s
- Max Powered Climb Pitch: 45°
- Min Stall Speed: 18 m/s
A stock rocket called Eve Plane 1.1. Built with 158 of the finest parts, its root part is Mark1Cockpit. Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.7.3.
