Description

Not enough Elevon 4’s?

Completely rebuild Eve Aerobot, now features:

  • Dual Interconnected Triple-Stage Coaxial Rotors: More power and more stable.
  • Origami Mode 2.0: Now folds into an even smaller space!
  • Wuble-U Tail: More ergonomic when folded and far more stable flight performance.

Comes with its own booster rocket to get to orbit, comes with a Deep Space Stage for getting to Eve via a transfer window and providing power and comms during the trip. Comes with a Bi-Conic Heatshield/Fairing for entry into Eve atmosphere or aerobraking.

How to Land/Fly on Eve:

  1. Parachutes will open at 30 km altitude and slow down to ~30 m/s.
  2. Stage away the Heatshield/Fairing.
  3. Change probe orientation to forward and turn off SAS.
  4. Unfold
  5. Activate SAS to surface prograde
  6. Extend Wing flaps/slates.
  7. Stage away backshell/parachutes
  8. Fly down at speeds > 200 m/s or cruise at < 20 km by raising to 10° pitch and activating rotor engines.
  9. Extend landing gear and brakes and land at < 30 m/s.

Cautions:

  • Check that the wing strut and motor interconnector strut are in place.
  • Check that the wing flaps extend up and wing slats extend down.
  • Check the probe orientation is reverse for launch and forward while in flight over Eve.
  • Make sure you have relay sats or some other means of comms in place to control the aerobot when flying over Eve

Warnings:

  • Do not exceed 4 km/s when entering Eve atmosphere or else the bi-conic heatshield may overheat.
  • Do not let propellers spin when going >75 m/s or else they may wobble crazily.

A stock rocket called Eve Aerobot 2.0. Built with 141 of the finest parts, its root part is miniFuselage. Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.7.2.
