The X-20 tested a radically different capability. Equipped with two J-20 turbojets for primary propulsion, the X-20 is also equipped with four additional J-20 engines for vertical thrust. These allow the X-20 to takeoff vertically or land vertically, hover, and even fly sideways or backwards at low speed. When fully-fueled, the X-20 requires a short takeoff roll to get airborne, and its top speed is relatively low for an aircraft of its size. However the X-20 successfully demonstrated vertical takeoff and landing is feasible.

Action Groups:

[2] Toggles RW
[3] Toggles Forward Propulsion
[4] Toggles Cockpit Lights
