This is a beta release of the Aperion Pulsar Dragon, a research/fighter jet based on the Dassault Rafale. It has supermanuverability which means it can achieve a controllable angle of attack far beyond what aerodynamically possible thanks to thrust vectoring. You can be moving forwards and point the nose upwards, or backwards without going into an uncontrollable spin.

The plane is incredibly easy to fly and maneuver with landing speeds as low as 30 m/s and was designed using aerodynamic stability analysis mod tools for a very flat and smooth response curve. It also has a few critically located hullcams to see through instrument panel and view the landing gear in the cockpit view. This all combines to make it very safe to fly in first person. I was able to takeoff and land at the east island runway first try with a pinpoint touchdown.

The dimensions, and cost were designed to be roughly equivalent to it’s real world counterpart. Fueled or empty it weighs 1.5 times as much as it’s counterpart. Due to Kerbal’s higher drag being present to compensate for the smaller scale of planets it needs more engine weight to achieve similar supersonic speed. It ends up with 1.93 times more TWR meaning it accelerates quicker but has 0.93 the top speed.

Pressing the space bar will toggle the air brakes, and the brake key is also linked to the deployment of the air brakes. Using the RCS key will enable a minor upward trim which increases stability. Abort deploys both chaff and flares. 0 enables the landing flap configuration, while 9 deploys the ailerons to maintain forward flight at very low speeds.

The roll rate is designed to be very low without coordinated yaw for greater control, if you want aggressive rolls coordinate your yaw.
