Description
Edit 4/7/2022
No longer works in latest KSP :(
A stock aircraft called Automated SSTO. Built with 51 of the finest parts, its root part is mk2DroneCore.
Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.10.1.
How to fly:
Engage SAS and RCS. Throttle to 100% and press play on the KAL controller on the top of the stack in the cargo bay. Then sit back and relax.
The cargo doors close automatically
The orbit that the craft enters varies slightly. Apoapsis is usually around 270-300km and periapsis is usually around 85-90km. The craft should have barely enough fuel to deorbit from apoapsis once the automatic sequence is complete.
Known issues:
While building and testing this craft, after about 10-20 launches, the craft suddenly stops going past about 370 m/s at all. There is no real reason for this, and it works perfectly until that happens. Once that happens, restarting the game seems to fix it.
When deorbiting, it’s incredibly hard to control. Pump all fuel into the front tank, and use the chute if necessary.
The amount of cargo it can carry is untested. Make sure that any parts you add do not cause any drag to the outside of the craft, as the KAL controllers are pretty finely tuned and any change in drag can cause the craft to fail.
Don’t use timewarp until at least 40k in altitude and with the rapiers off. Only use physwarp, don’t use actual timewarp at all.
