#Draco #Wilga

A sort-of-scale recreation of Mike Patey’s Draco, a PZL104 Wilga that has been heavily modified for STOL and bush flying. A detailed video series of the modifications and custom fabrication can be found at Mike’s Youtube channel.

Draco is powered by a 680hp Pratt & Whitney PT6A-28 tubine engine, which allows for reverse thrust when paired with a variable-pitch propeller. Draco can land in the same distance and at the same speed as a Carbon Cub even though it has over twice the mass for the same amount of wing area. This, combined with massive tires and heaps of suspension travel, makes it a monster of a bush plane.

Draco’s wingtips are completely custom, featuring built-in lights and a custom carbon-fiber leaf spring. The spring protects the wing’s structure in the event of a ground loop, which happen more often due to the Wilga’s trailing link main gear.
