Description
The iconic harrier jump jet.
How to fly?
Press Action Group 3 to control from a docking port pointed straight up. Set SAS to radial out. Stage to start the engine. Maximum throttle to get plenty of altitude. Slowly press [k] to vector the jet engines upwards; as you do so you will gain forward airspeed. Once you have enough airspeed, press Action Group 2 to control from the root part cockpit.
How to land?
Slow down; set the control point to the docking port (AG3); set SAS to radial out. Press Abort(backspace) action group to vector jet engine thrust downwards. Setting the throttle at ~66% (that’s the second marker from the bottom) at full fuel sets the jet engine TWR to around 1.0; from here, adjust throttle until you have a satisfactory descent rate. To move back and forth, you can minutely vector the jet engines via [I] and [K]. Rolling the jet (which when controlling from the upwards facing docking port is actually controlled by Yaw A and D) will push the jet sideways in your desired direction. Combine the engine vectoring and rolling to make an accurate landing.
