Reengined, Reengineered Airliner
While the E-110 was a best-selling aircraft, tight deadlines had forced procurement of less-than-stellar engines. Despite its revolutionary twin engine design, some of the efficiencies gained by removing one or two engines were offset by the fuel inefficiency if the original turbines. This reengine aims to mitigate those issues, by introducing a high-bypass turbojet engine as it’s main powerplant. Improved avionics and increased fuel reserves round out the final checklist of improvements. The twin-jet revolution has begun…
