Description

during the 1935 efrosan heavy gun fighter program, the Pratt corporation submitted their design for a radial powered, all metal fighter, armed with 2 0.50 caliber machine guns and one automatic 37mm high explosive cannon. The contract arose when airships began to be armored to the point where machine guns were quickly becoming useless.

The XK-33 first flew in september of 1935, powered by it’s Winston R-2000-13, creating 1200hp. The combined power, large propeller and small body gave it excellent properties for long range escort duties at high altitudes. Pilots started to complain that their aircraft were continuously outgunned by enemy fighters and that the 37 was very difficult to aim in a dog fight scenario, so the CMB ( Craft Modification Bureau) Built the K-33a, armed with 4 0.50 caliber machine guns on the wings, and one 20mm autocannon, mounted in the nose.

Eventually, as the war raged on, the K-33 found itself outmatched in a few years time, and after many hundreds of airframes built, 150-300 of which were sent to the royal isles for the second battle of the royal isles in 1943. Once the aircraft arrived to aid in the fight, it was still outclassed by the arbonian aircraft because pirates were very uncommon in efrosa, subsequently the designers were less experienced in combat. the Pratt corporation stopped building fighter aircraft, and instead switching to Bomber production, while using their knowledge of high altitude performance to assist the CMB in modifying interceptors and forced air induction systems alike.

To Fly

give it only a little bit of throttle and a few good taps on K to take off, which should be done asap. I andcK adjusts Prop pitch, which will need to be increased with speed.

To land

It’s quite difficult, just try to land as smooth as possible and it should be ok. even i have trouble with it.

A stock aircraft called K-33 Shrike. Built with 207 of the finest parts, its root part is probeCoreOcto2.v2.

Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.7.3.
