The Crew Return Vehicle (CRV) spaceplane simplifies getting 5 Kerbals to and from low Kerbin orbit or to and from any of the moons. Very easy to fly to orbit and return home as a glider, CRV works great, and has abort modes from launch to landing if you’re into that sort of thing. The side launch system cradles the CRV and leaves the center of mass high above the spaceplane to avoid that crazy fight you’d have in replicating the Space Shuttle Orbiter side mounted design. Passenger module could be swapped out for extra LF/OX fuel, or a cargo bay.
To fly, use the S key (not D) to begin the gravity turn toward 90 degrees. The main stage has easily enough delta-V to put the entire vehicle into a 70km orbit with just a touch of the cruise stage. Just be aggressive on the gravity turn after 25km. Great vehicle to add to interplanetary missions as a return ship.
PILOT REQUIRED. While you can add a thin probe core easily, this craft does not include one.
WARNING: Do NOT tell your pilot in the cockpit to try to EVA. This cockpit is clipped into the forward fuselage fuel tank. A great krakening or failure for the pilot to leave will result. Transfer them to the passenger bay to do this.
CRV has excellent glide range, is pretty stable on re-entry and specially adjusted to have a stable landing base. Vehicle is also equipped with 4 parachutes if the landing looks sour and vehicle is 4000 feet or higher to use them.
