Description
This is one of a pair of Kerbalized Apollo-15 craft, comparing with/without Making History.
The foldable wheels of the Making History pack are nice and make a fun rover.
Built in KSP version 1.6.1, 41 meters tall.
Too many stages for Kerbin; of course fewer stages would be more efficient.
Stages | dV | TWR: |
---|---|---|
Launch | 1706m/s | 1.7 |
Sustainter | 2850m/s | 0.9 |
Transfer | 1736m/s | 0.7 |
Orbiter | 1154m/s | 1.2 |
Lander | 954m/s | 2.4(!)(Mun) |
Return | 999m/s | 5.6 (Mun) |
Notes:
Wolfhound thrust limited 60%
There are separate decouplers beneath the engine clusters, instead of using the Engine Plates’ built-in decouplers.
The stage-2 Engine Plate’s decoupler is used to release the interstage tube after stage-2 engines fire.
Nothing attached to fuel tank inside the SM-25 (which would run into a reported bug about colliders). Instead, the smaller parts are attached to shelves.
SM-25 uses small surface attached tanks because only one internal node gets fuel flow (fuel lines would also work)
