THE BLACKBURN BUCCANEER
Description
The Blackburn Buccaneer is a British carrier-borne attack aircraft designed in the 1950s for the Royal Navy.
It can use conventional weapons, or a nuclear bomb through a bomb bay. This aircraft was appreciated for its good robustness, reliability, and for being perfectly adapted to its low altitude attack. I like the look of this plane because it reminds me of the rafale :P .
The replica
I tried my best on this one, using fairings partially for some parts (nose, engines, tail).
It has some cool feature like the refueling antenna, custom-made intakes using the hidden part of the jet engines (see below), and finally the rear airbrake.
Sadly, because I don’t have a lot of time to work on that, there are some missing features or some issues (might be fixed in the future):
- Wings can’t be folded
- Even with autostruts and rigid attachment, the fuselage or the engines moves a bit during maneuvers.
- When pitching up, the craft start to roll right a bit, but it’s easy to counter it by rolling a bit left (pretty logic)
during takeoff or landings, when you’re stopped, the plane can start rolling a bit left and right (In reality, It just dances :D)
I’m sorry, but I don’t have the time to make a video :< instead, just some pics
