Description

The Kookaburra is a medium range STOL aircraft for science collection and deploying dispersed sites. It holds a standard crew of three, entering and exiting only through the cockpit. Each tail boom contains a Science Jr. materials bay, a Mystery Goo container, and a 1.25m cargo container with room for one complete Breaking Ground science site (BG DLC not required for the craft, simply supported.) All other stock planetary science experiments are located in the twin service bay, along with a science container, which allows multiple biomes to be visited with each flight. The dorsal mounted DTS-M1 antenna can be used to send data to the KSC while on location, though not while in flight. It cruises comfortably at 250m/s at 5km altitude and can make round trips to the poles from KSC. Flight range can be extended even further with the addition of drop tanks made from TT-38 decouplers, size 0 fuel tanks and appropriate nose cones. For takeoff, rotation speed is 30-35m/s, with a comfortable landing speed around 40-45m/s.

A stock aircraft called Kookaburra. Built with 51 of the finest parts, its root part is Mark2Cockpit.

Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.11.2.
