The Helios I is a Interplanetary Launch System that was conceived for the specific purpose of bringing the Intrepid Rover to Duna. Though, it can carry out other missions; such as to the Mün, Minmus, and Eve, but with a smaller payload, even to the edges of the Kerb0l system.

NOTE
MAKE SURE TO SEPERATE THE RADIAL SRB AT AROUND 6500 METERS UP IN THE ATMOSPHERE TO AVOID RUD (Rapid-Unplanned-Dissasembly). I do not know why this happens, and are still trying to investigate just why it happens.

NOTE V.2
It should be noted that you need to enable the ‘Ignore Max Temperature’ cheat when you descend into the atmosphere of Duna and separate the protective fairing, as to avoid destroying any components of the Intrepid Rover.

The Helios I launching, carrying atop it, the KDTS and the Intrepid Rover.

Images of the radial SRB separating from the Helios I rocket.

The ‘first’ stage of the Helios I rocket separates spectacularly.

The fairings literally just seperate, that’s it.

The secondary stage of the Helios I performs the orbital insertion burn, conveniently propelling it into orbit.

The KDTS (Kerbin-to-Duna Transfer Stage) separates from the Helios I secondary stage.

The KDTS performs a Duna-insertion-burn, (again) propelling it into an encounter with Duna.

Here, the KDTS executes a Midcourse-correction burn to align it’s encounter with Duna.

The KDTS executes it’s final action − decelerate into a suborbital trajectory

Intrepid separates from the KDTS, it’s now left to it’s own devices.
