Description

SSTO Robespierre mk2 it’s fairly capable spaceplane, designed for direct transfers to Laythe. My tests have shown that it’s able to easily bring medium tank full of ore (3,5t, in the cargo bay, to the left) into 86k circular orbit and still has above 5,5k of spare d/v to mess around the Kerbol star system. Furthermore, it carries full science equipment (cargo bay, to the right; with science container aswell) and seats for 5 kerbals (Robespierre mk1 was successful getting to Laythe, but it had quite a harsh landing). Even with not optimal ascent, it has shielded docking port, so the tanks can be refilled in the orbit. Although the ship has a tendency to turn right on the runway, it’s damn stable in the air. Probe core included.

For low TWR SSTO’s the ascent is simple:
1) fly low and build up speed to 450 m/s
2) at 8-10km of altitude, level the plane and build up speed to over 1,5km/s
3) at 16 km of altitude, toggle NERV, your nosecone should aim at 15-20 degrees
4) Switch RAPIERS to closed cycle as soon as you start losing speed
5) Aim prograde above 30 km above the sea
