The moment of truth; the moment when the Saltrider first swam on Laythe’s waters.
- Sure, that picture was taken on a lake, but now we know it can set sail on the moon’s oceans if need be.

The boat and its delivery rocket fully assembled in the VAB.
- After a successful test run of the Mk. II on Kerbin (Mk. I failed), the boat was transferred to the VAB and slapped on the delivery rocket for the E-40 plane.
- Honestly, rocket or not, this feels like a huge upgrade from the old Amphibian. It may not carry as many people, but it’s got a lot more functions and can last longer.

Description
Based loosely on the Amphibian
back on Kerbin, this electric boat carries kerbalnauts and scientific instruments all over Laythe’s salty waters. Obviously it can’t be gas-powered unless it can get ore from the bottom of the ocean.
Mk. I (literally) went belly-up, and some outside consultants suggested that the engines were too far above the CoM. So, smaller rotors - and rotor blades - were used in the process of addressing this.
A stock rocket called Saltrider Mk. II. Built with 442 of the finest parts, its root part is mk2DroneCore.
Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.12.4.

BOATING ADVICE
For optimum speed, make sure your propeller blades are set to 15 degrees - AND NO MORE
- Once you’re on dry land, you can raise the blade angle.

During a Kerbin test run, it swam all the way from the KSC to the abandoned airfield. This picture shows the Saltrider jumping over the mound leading to the runway.
- After that test run was over, I decided to put gear on the front and rear tips so that the wheels can have a better grip on the terrain should it get too steep.

The Laythe test run didn’t require me to land on either land or water specifically, since it had to be useful on both. So, after a nice landing on an island with some lakes, I set the blade angle to 15 degrees and headed toward the nearest body of water there.
- As an extra precaution, I turned the anti-tip wheels on (R button).
- I retracted the anti-tip wheels once I got close to the lake. I also slowed down with a combination of brakes and reverse thrust.
