Jeb’s new sweet ride at the SPH. Bet he was really grateful to his dad for letting him have it - despite his accident liability record (from his teen years).
Jeb’s car being the hottest
new aircraft in the skies.
Details
- Type: SPH
- Class: aircraft
- Part Count: 21
- Pure Stock
- KSP: 1.12.1
Description
Designed to be a luxury item for multi-millionaires - or in Jeb’s case, the son of a billionaire. It can fly around Kerbin’s equator going prograde in an hour, but at great risk of the cockpit exploding (at least now we know why the heater was removed). Flight tests also show that there’s barely any fuel left to spare when landing, so be careful.
A stock aircraft called Jeb’s Car. Built with 21 of the finest parts, its root part is Mark1Cockpit.
Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.12.1.
DISCLAIMER
Not designed to be a racing jet because:
1) The cockpit does not have adequate heat protection, making it far too risky to go at airspeeds exceeding 1200 m/s for long periods of time. Regular gliding intervals until cockpit cooldown is highly recommended, with a higher frequency for higher airspeeds.
2) In both circumnavigation tests, the aircraft was almost out of fuel upon landing. Another reason why gliding intervals is recommended for this aircraft; you can save fuel.
RECOMMENDED CRUISE
Altitude: 18,000 m
Speed: 1200 m/s
* be sure to glide whenever cockpit gets too hot
Estimated Circumnavigation Time: 1 hour
Approaching the SPH, the craft is gliding down to save fuel and so the cockpit wouldn’t blow up due to overheating.
Only about 500 km left to go. Keep it up.
Val Kerman disembarking the jet after the second circumnavigation test.
* Jeb Senior let her test it since she has no history of reckless vehicle operation (unlike his son).
Wow, only an hour (even with all the gliding intervals).
