Description
In the 1960s, a deal was made between the Soviet Union and the People’s Republic of China where China would license build the MiG-21 as the Chengdu J-7. After this however, tensions between the two countries built up and China was severed from the technology transfer. In 1987, engineers from Chengdu unveiled the J-7e variant, an improved version of the J-7 that notably had an entirely new double-delta wing, which gave the aircraft 45% more maneuverability. The J-7 has been a very common export aircraft due to its low cost and production only ended in 2013
