largely inoperable past 1.8.1 version
Description
A helicopter that replicates real flight control systems like cyclic, collective and anti-torque pedals in order to achieve and maintain stable flight. Because of this, all RCS/SAS systems are deactivated and no RW is included. A special credit goes to yajifu whose rotor designs inspired me to build my own version. Here we have a sigle-seat, 2 rigid blades main rotor and tail rotor configuration. Although flying it with a HOTAS joystick is much more fun and precise, the aircraft is tuned to let you achieve almost same level of control (metaphorically speaking ))), using solely the keyboard. It works best by rapidly pressing and releasing the corresponding keys; on the contrary, by holding the keys pressed you are overcontroling the helicopter.
Controls
Needless to say, the expression controlling a helicopter
is almost an oxymoron, but for those stubborn enough to try flying this thing, here they are, the instructions:
- [Space]: togles the engines, give it ~10sec to warm up
- [AWSDQE]: controls pitch, yaw, roll
- [Main Throttle] controls the collective; liftoff is at about 50%
- [Helicopter Sound] https://youtu.be/rrafATcA-J0

Notes/Updates
- ver.2 with a significant increase in maneuverability and flight stability, especially when keyboard is used to control the craft; It gained also some aesthetics. Unfortunately I’ve come into some issues with the joystick; not sure if it’s just my hardware.
