Here is a full mission I design as the first step to colonize Duna.
This is a single lunch Duna base and that’s why I used SpaceY mods in a big rocket (I never built a big rocket like that before)
Putting that thing in Kerbin’s orbit is quiet hard so it may take a few attempts before you reach Kerbin’s orbit.
The transfert stage from Kerbin to Duna has a very large amount of DeltaV (6000 m/s) so it is clearly enough to go to Duna and do some maneuver around Duna and find the perfect spot to land on.
The best altitude to start assembling the base is 50'000-60'000m around Duna. Once assembled it is easy to land, it has a lot of parachutes and very stable with all parachutes deployed. At an altitude of 500 m you can start slowing down and reach a speed of less than 5m/s and land softly.
The Base is made with Kerbal Planetary Base Systems mod and the rover in the garage is made with Feline Utility Rovers mod.
I hope you’ll enjoy! ;-)
