Description
The need for a quick and speedy deployment in the event of a naval disaster was finally solved with the development of the KD-255. This aircraft was developed from a original seaplane design that originally had standard prop engines; however, prop engines turned out to be too slow for an emergency out at sea. Officially, this aircraft’s role as a quick responder at sea was soon over taken by the Coast Guard’s faster KD-139. The advantage the KD-139 had over the KD-255 was the capability of having more seating due to the fact that the plane was built from a passenger plane. Now the KD-255’s use is immediate evacuation, dropping water on forest fires, and Recon/ spotting.
A stock aircraft called KD-255 Mk4. Built with 139 of the finest parts, its root part is mk2Cockpit.Inline.
