The mandate was to create a flying wing variant with extended range. What started out as
a modified Ursula quickly morphed into its own design, and since the large wings hold the most fuel and create lift, the bi-wing was born. Fitted out with ramjets, it has been clocked at 1300 mps (this is not recommended as it disintegrated just afterwards). However, it will cruise around 1000 comfortably–just keep an eye on the temperature.

Named after Italian author Italo Calvino.

A 5-crew version called Umberto was developed from this plane.
