Hadley Corporation Experimental Tail Sitter VTOL One.
Operating Instructions:
For VTOL takeoff, first check that afterburner is on (it should be by default) Activate engines and it should lift straight up. At around 30 meters in altitude or speed, begin to pitch forward until the plane is level.
For VTOL landing, engage brakes. Using RCS, pitch up agressively (SAS-radial out can help) It may begin moving upward, so cut off the engines until it reaches apoapsis. Pointing radial out the whole time, adjust your throttle as needed to land. You can yaw or pitch 5 to 10 degrees from radial out to adjust your landing zone.
Some advice: You will need to throttle up for landing much higher in altitude than you’d think. Landing and takeoff must be done with afterburner, but it can fly horizontally just fine without it.
Once you’ve slowed down, Vertical Velocity Controller Redux can help maintain altitude, but it has trouble actually slowing you down on landing.
