Description
This vehicle was made for Claw’s Biome Hopper Challenge. It is named in honor of the Sky Queen, a nuclear-powered flying laboratory (in a jet, not an airship) from Tom Swift and his Flying Lab. If you’re going to fly over the whole world collecting Mystery Goo data, you might as well look for anomalies, so I’d recommend adding a BTDT sensor from SCANsat.
This version is based on my Sky Princess, but with some substitutions made to reduce the tech level to 5 (smaller landing legs, solar power instead of nuclear, Firespitter propeller instead of USI ducted fans, non-collapsible gas bag).
The all-electric design and life support stocks give the Sky Princess enough range to visit every biome; its main limiting factor with this vehicle is the operator’s patience. Max speed is over 135 m/s ( = Mach 0.4), which is pretty good for an airship.
